Half-Blood Prince and other junk.
Saw Harry Potter.
:/

Three things really, really got to me:
1. Harry and Ginny's "kiss" and "relationship", if you can even call them that. That was the most pathetic kiss I've ever seen!!! The one in the book was much more cinematic, so why did they change it?! Ugh, makes me mad. Plus, that kiss was the extent of their weak relationship in the movie. What the HELL?!
2. The very end. IT'S A TRIO!!! NOT A DUO PLUS ONE!!! It was all Harry/Hermione, with Ron sitting like a lump in the background the whole time. Did he even say anything?! I can't remember. PISSED OFF! That was not a good way to leave the movie for me. I left the theater practically seething.
3. Okay, I know they always say you can't fit everything from the book into the movies, but when you add stupid scenes that aren't even in the book (ATTACKONTHEBURROW), that excuse doesn't really fly anymore. That whole thing was a big waste of time, imo. And why did they just stand there watching their house burn to the ground?! They're wizards! Pull out your wands and make them into a freakin fire hose!!!

Other than those three very BIG things, I liked the movie. Mostly I liked all the humor, especially Harry under the effects of Felix Felicis. Jim Broadbent was hilarious, as was Jessie Cave. They kept the "er-my-nee" bit in, which pleased me greatly. Cormac was also super funny, which I wasn't really expecting at all. And Hermione looked so cute in her party dress! Wish we could have seen more of it when she wasn't behind a curtain. :P

So those are my thoughts. Disappointed all-in-all (Order of the Phoenix is still my favorite), but I still want to see it again! And I'm really, really, really ready for Deathly Hallows now. I'm going to try to put all my expectations out the window from now on so I won't be quite so disappointed, but I'm not sure if I can. As long as they do Ron right, I think I'll be okay. He needs his shining moments.

Let's see, what else?
My graphics journal has hit a speed bump because our new wireless internet is down. It will still be up soon, and I'm still working on a bunch of new stuff, but it won't be ready yesterday, like I thought it was going to be.

I knew there was something else I wanted to talk about, but I can't think of it! So I'll just leave you with this Deathly Hallows wallpaper I made and say goodbye. :)

LOL! so true. i felt a little confused why they did but that in the movie. they could have made more room for more stuff from the book. but i was happy for all of ron's moments :D

hahaha I laughed out loud at that line, too!

Glad I could amuse you. :P

Sorry you are disappointed!

Keeping in mind that I haven't read the books yet (the first one is on hold at the library!!!), I did think the duo vs trio thing was strange. I've always assumed it was a trio but there are times in the movies where Ron is very distant. This might get explained to me more after I read 'em.

So glad I get the er my nee thing now!!! :-)

Feel free to form your own opinion on the matter. :P
billie!wecrash on July 19th, 2009 11:10 pm (UTC)
well, i kinda didn't expect much from them to be honest. for some reason harry's kisses are always so - low key? it's silly!
miss_kallahan on July 20th, 2009 06:31 pm (UTC)
No, I understand - Harry doesn't inspire much passion. :P

Ron, on the other hand...
billie!wecrash on July 20th, 2009 10:19 pm (UTC)
oh, don't get me started on ron...

*giggles*

I AGREE SFM WITH #2!!! What kind of closing line is "I never realised how beautiful this place was."!?!??!?!
miss_kallahan on July 20th, 2009 06:35 pm (UTC)
Oh God, I forgot he said that! So stupid.
elexisangel_fanarts on July 20th, 2009 01:08 pm (UTC)
I gotta say I agree with you on those points. I was really mad because of the Harry/Ginny relationship - it was a pure waste of screentime if they weren't going to put much effort in it. I feel like they have made 5 movies avoiding romance as much as they can and one movie that is almost all about romance, so it is only natural that it would feel so strange (well the actors and scriptwriters also had something to do with it). But I loved the cave scene and all the traveling through the memories (I don't remember the book very well, but weren't there more things? Facts and stories about Tom/Voldemort's live that they didn't tell? Or that was in DH?)
yeah the ending sucked BIG TIME!I hate it when Ron is left out. I guess that's what he feels like sometimes? I think that maybe this is a setting up for movie 7 when Ron does you-know-what. It's not a nice act, but he is human and he is my favorite character, so they better not make a big deal out of it.
Btw, did you notice how funny the movie was? Some scenes were just hilarious.
miss_kallahan on July 20th, 2009 06:41 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I think they suffered a lot from past omissions. It felt really weird that Ginny was suddenly a part of the story.

They didn't include any of the memories with Voldemort's mother, Grandfather, etc... You know, the stuff where we find out about the locket?

That's a really good point - they could be trying to set up Ron's feeling of isolation and unimportance for the next movie. It might make me feel better about it if I knew it was done that way for a reason. I hope they explain why he leaves in the next one. He's not doing it just because he's an ass! He's a boy with feelings. *sniff*

That was the thing I liked best about the movie - the comedy. I still can't stop giggling everytime I think about Harry and Felix Felicis. And my sister cracks up when she thinks about Cormac licking his fingers for Hermione. :P
elexisangel_fanarts on July 20th, 2009 08:45 pm (UTC)
Xaxa Cormac licking his fingers and Hermione hiding from him was ridiculous :D I totally loved it.
I knew it! That these memories were from HBP - but there were so many things they missed then... The only explanation I can think of is that they are going to leave them for the 1st DH film... I am putting all of my hopes in the DH movies - the change in environment and structure of the story (I mean 6 movies done by the same formula - they go to school, stuff happens, Harry fights with someone and at the end realizes something about his past/present/future and then everyone's back safe... it's gonna be different now and I'm very excited :)

I couldn't agree more. Somehow they managed to leave out the complete halfblood prince storyline, which would have been kinda important...

And Harry/Ginny, yuck. The worst thing was the shoelace-moment, that made me cringe so much.
miss_kallahan on July 20th, 2009 06:43 pm (UTC)
YEAH!
We never even saw Snape teach, for crying out loud!!!

I know, lol, that was a bit motherly and... tres awkward. :P

It was all Harry/Hermione, with Ron sitting like a lump in the background the whole time.
THIS.

Also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who was a little disappointed... :o(

I totally agree! A lot of people seem to love movie!HBP and hate movie!OotP but I lke #5 and wasn't as impressed with #6 (though certain characters and scenes were spot-on, I didn't like the movie overall). And I was also fuming when I left the theatre; it was that awful. My sister could tell what I was mad about. =(
miss_kallahan on August 5th, 2009 03:49 pm (UTC)
THANK YOU!
I thought I was being childish when I left the theater, lol. You've vindicated me. ^_^

I also really enjoyed some aspects that were right out of the book (er-my-nee), but the whole thing was really just a disappointment.

Er-My-Knee was awesome! I mean, they made it blatantly obvious to everyone around them but maybe that was a good thing. I can't wait for more R/Hr.

Thanks again!
No one ever mentioned a thing about it, so I figured I had failed big time. ^_^
